Vocational training on cutting and switching starts at KVK-Poonch

Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), Poonch of Shere-e-Kashmir university of Agricultural Sciences & Technology-Jammu under the patronage of Directorate of Extension Education, SKUAST-Jammu started a week long vocational training programme on cutting and switching at KVK, campus, Poonch on 22..01.2018. The programme is being attended by 22 unemployed rural girls of different villages of the district. The programme was organized under the guidance of Associate Director Extension & I/c, KVKs, of SKUAST-Jammu, Dr. Raj Kumar Arrora.

Dr. Ajay Gupta, Sr. Scientist & Head of KVK Poonch gave a detailed view of the programme and said that the purpose of the training was to provide skill in cutting and tailoring to school dropouts and unemployed rural girls so as to become self-dependent. He informed that KVK Poonch took initiative and arranged all the possible facilities for conducting week long vocational training programme on the request of some unemployed rural women and school dropouts. He emphasized that women can utilize their free time and can generate additional income through tailoring profession sitting at home. He informed the participants that KVK has arranged female trainer for this training programme so that the female participants freely interact and learn the difficult steps of tailoring.
